Politics, Religion, Military and whatever else I think of

These are my thoughts about the world. I am a staff sergeant in the Army, so of course I have an opinion. Hope you enjoy, or at the very least, think.

Green? Car

OK, so John McCain is going to offer $300 million to anyone who can come up with a battery that costs less than current batteries and runs with better efficiency. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/environment/2008-06-23-mcain-car-battery_N.htm?csp=34
Good idea.
But lets think about these "green cars." To power a car right now you use a NiCad or Lithium Ion battery. That is all well and good but (especially for the NiCad) to produce the batteries takes way more energy and produces a significant amount of "greenhouse" gasses. This is due to the mining of the nickel and other metals used in the battery.
Then, after the battery runs down (just like any battery loses its efficiency) where is the battery going to go? The land fill? Goodness forbid. That would be an environmental disaster.
So then what? Recycle? How's the technology on that going so far?
Now, the other side of the battery issue is where is the power for the battery coming from? Any type of plug in electric car has to, uh, plug in. That means your electricity bill will go up. And where does the electricity come from? How about gas or coal powered electricity plants!
But can't we just find some sort of high energy, low waste, high efficiency power source to get electricity from? Sure. We have one today. Solar? Nope. Wind? Wrong.
Don't tell any environmentalists, and whisper when you say it along with me... nuclear.
So if John McCain (and just wait for Obama's proposal) is offering $300 mil for a battery, how much could we offer to a company to come up with a way to dispose of the nuclear waste that is currently shipped to Yucca Mt? $1 bil ought to do it. Shoot, I would bet that most gas companies would pony up the billion just to have rights to build the nuclear plants.

Quick review. Batteries are good but not perfect. Fossil fuels generate most of our electricity. Nuclear plants are the answer to America's energy Independence.

There will be a test on the second Tuesday of November.

Hillary Clinton

Say it isn't so! Hillary please don't drop out! Just hang on for a few more months.

Shoot, wouldn't it be great if Hillary ran on a "third party" ticket? Then we could have Clinton, Obama, Nader, McCain and Barr all running. Now if we could just get Mitt Romney to run on a third party.

It would be nice to have the choice of who you think the best president would be and know that your candidate actually had a chance if they weren't Democrat or Republican. We know Nader is running on Green; Oboma as Democratic; McCain as Republican; and Barr as Libertarian.

Now, what if we had Hillary run on the, what "Feminist" ticket and Romney on a "Fiscal reponsibility" ticket.

I know a lot of people say that if we had other parties nothing would get done. But look at how Washington is going now. You hear the media rail that President Bush has an approval rating "only in the 30's" but have you checked out the rating for Congress? How about in the high TEENS! Right, we should really keep things going as a status quo.

But for now, maybe Hillary and Bill can keep up the fight and give the left a chance to really mess their best chance to ruin America.

Well, then again, that would be good for the country. So, fight on Billary!
